Kipling had a great line about being able to walk with kings yet not lose the common touch. So if you have a really fancy first course, then have a really simple second course and dessert. There was a woman in New York who entertained beautifully and always served foie gras for starters then meat loaf and mashed potatoes for dinner. It sounds elemental, but people can get it so wrong. Leave something to the imagination. Absolutely not! Entertaining is never effortless, but it has to look effortless.

Think about it: Are you at ease watching someone stress out trying to get dinner to the table? Hosting is like winding up a watch and then letting it go. Oh, and never stop smiling. Start simple.

Turn the lights down; serve chicken potpie and good French wine. And for the record, no one ever died reading an etiquette book. The rules exist because they make people more at ease. Etiquette stems from good manners, and good manners stem from kindness. Everyone needs to make an effort. A host has responsibilities just as guests do. Tell us how you got into entertaining.

So you learned through osmosis? You took the cuisine of your childhood—Southern food with a French flair—to Los Angeles and began trying it out on your California friends. What was their reaction? Besides being a celebrity, Hitz also works as a real estate developer and cloth designer. Hitz was born in Atlanta but raised in France. Hitz got his name from his father.

His father was descendent of the Swiss ambassador Florian Hitz while his mother was from a well-off family in Atlanta. His mother belonged to the family who was the early investors of Coca-cola and had a prominent status. When he was just three years old, his parents got divorced, so he does not have much recollection of his biological father. However, the absence of his father made him close to his mother, Caroline. Hitz grew up under the care of his mother with her family in France.

It was during his stay with his maternal family that he came to love cooking. The family chef, Dorothy Williams, taught him about Southern cooking and everything else that made him fall in love with the art of cooking. However, he did not choose the culinary sector as a career and went to Washington And Lee University to get a B.

But after graduating, he started nurturing his cooking skills by taking various lessons and even co-owning a restaurant. It was just a starting as he started growing his culinary skills into an empire called the Beverly Hills Kitchen. He kept his passion going, and now he is an established celebrity chef.

His mother was an inspirational figure in his life, who later got married to the Grammy award-winning choral conductor and symphonic Robert Shaw. After her second marriage with Robert Shaw, Hitz started looking up to him. It was his stepfather who inspired him to have a side career as a producer. As a producer, he produced shows for Broadway. He had a successful career on Broadway, which made him transition to TV. His good looks and charming personality came in handy, and he became one of the most loved TV personalities.

Currently, Hitz lives a happy life by running his gourmet food brand and working as a real estate developer and cloth designer. There have been no link-up rumors so far, and no one knows if he is single or married to someone. As much as charming chef Hitz is, he is equally educated. He went to a boarding school for his schooling.

Even after having a degree, he enrolled at the University of London in one of their undergraduate programs in English and theater. After his parents divorced, he spent his childhood in France, so he was interested in French culture. He got all of these done before accepting his passion for cooking. Once he realized his passion, he started taking culinary lessons. His time in these institutes sharpened his culinary skills even more.
