Skyrim who is the best companion

Still, while not as powerful as his brother, he is quite effective in combat, and his chatty nature can be a good thing whilst on the road, or in the middle of the wilderness.

This powerful follower hangs out at the Drunken Huntsman in Whiterun, making her one of the earliest, and most easily accessible potential followers in the game. Jenassa is no slouch when it comes to combat. She's an expert archer that can trek into the most dangerous of places wearing heavy armor if so desired.

She can also retrieve arrows during travels, which is a definite plus, and her only real drawback is a lack of magical ability. For many gamers, Jenassa is a surefire way to survive the first few perilous adventures whilst they level up their characters. Aela is a member of the Companions and a master trainer in archery. The most fanatical member of the Circle, she's the only member of the Companions who refuses to be cured of her lycanthropy after one of the main quests is completed.

She constantly talks about being a werewolf, and all the bloodshed and hunting that it entails. She can also be considered a marriage option, provided players don't mind hearing about the wonders and blessings of being a werewolf on a consistent, routine basis. Still, as a fighter, Aela is extremely capable and worthy of taking along on a trip or two.

Following in her story leads players to "The Silver Hand," one of the best quests in the base Skyrim game. Eola bears the distinction of being one of the most unsettling followers in the entire game. She's not particularly moral, or good-natured, due mostly to her cannibalistic tendencies. In fact, Eola can convince the player to join her cult, where they can partake in the feasting of human flesh. For those who don't mind going down this road, Eola does give back in spades.

She's an expert when it comes to sneaking, and she can even resurrect dead corpses and use them in battle. Her only drawback is a lack of heavy armor and weaponry, which can make her more vulnerable in a fight. Few followers in Skyrim are as versatile and tough as Teldryn Sero, and he continues to impress as a mainline option. He can be recruited near Raven Rock for gold, at which point players can take advantage of his excellent combat prowess and tactical efficiency.

Sero wields Elven weapons and Chitin armor, which is an odd combination, but it works. He can also wield magic alongside one-handed weapons, which is an extra bonus. Aside from his combat efficiency, he's also a chatterbox who can keep the conversations going for a while. Mage followers are scarce in Skyrim, but Illia is one of the best.

When she does fight, she blindly rushes into battle and gets herself killed. Teldryn Sero is a spellsword and mercenary that you can hire for coins.

In battle, Teldryn is a force to be reckoned with, topping out at level 60 with One-Handed, Light Armor, Destruction, and Conjuration being his primary skills. He is a savvy swordsman who is more than capable of holding his own in battle, but also blasts opponents with Flame or Firebolt when appropriate. On top of all of this, he will also summon a flame atronach to add to the onslaught.

When he does suffer damage, he heals himself or uses ward spells for added protection. He also makes for a pleasant traveling companion, as he offers unique commentary for various cities across Skyrim. Just as there are talented and strong Companions, so are there less talented and less strong ones, too. Njada is arguably the weakest of the Companions, with her level capping at 25 and no perks to be seen.

She is admittedly great for training your Block skill up to level 75, but you won't want her in a fight next to you; her skills are closer to a thief than a fighter. Personality-wise, she hates the fact that the Dragonborn has joined the Companions and never hides her contempt in that regard. It seems the only way to win her approval is to marry her, though marrying someone so negative is not advisable for a successful marriage.

Jenassa is a Dunmer ranger who you can meet early on in the Drunken Huntsman shop located in Whiterun. For gold, you can have her as a follower, and her abilities are nothing to sneeze at. Jenassa is a skilled archer with great aim and is also one of the few followers who can dual wield weapons. Her level caps at 40 and her morality is also very flexible, willing to commit any crime as mercenaries often do. If that wasn't enough, Jenassa is truly likable as well as marriageable , which doesn't matter in combat.

But it matters in every moment in between the combat, and isn't the whole experience what counts? Given how easy she is to recruit, she ranks high among the best followers in Skyrim. Beat her in a tavern brawl to receive coins and her services. Uthgerd is a decent warrior; however, even at her level cap of 30, she never manages to max out any of her skills.

Her One-Handed and Heavy Armor skills are a little above average whereas her secondaries, Block and Archery, are average.

Overall, she is another run-of-the-mill follower with a low Sneak skill destined to set off every trap she encounters. Not to mention, she is a despicable, hypocritical person. If you are willing to listen, she will tell the Dragonborn about how she was denied entry to the Companions because she killed a boy.

Instead of being remorseful, she bears a grudge against them. This is from someone who will attack you for murdering an innocent character. Not only does Frea not have a level cap, but she is also essential and thus cannot be killed.

You can make her a permanent follower by either passing a persuasion check or successfully bribing her after completing "The Fate of the Skaal. Another plus is that she will also use spells to heal herself. It is unlikely she will ever fall to her knees and beg for mercy in battle. He challenges the Dragonborn to a fistfight, betting coins. Beat him, and he will follow you for free and you will be a little richer.

His level cap is 30, with One-Handed at 78 and Heavy Armor at On top of being a generic warrior, he is rude and is always begging for money for drinks. By the time players make their way to Markarth, they will have encountered far better followers. If you prefer to adventure on the right side of justice, then the jester assassin, Cicero, is not for you.

He also has high levels in Light Armor and Archery, making him a versatile fighter who excels at close combat and is an effective sneaky sniper. Njada is lucky that Torvar is so unremarkable, otherwise she would be the worst of the Companions. Plenty of players have sacrificed him to Boethiah due to his uselessness at least Njada was a trainer. However, once he can be acquired for free, he's a worthwhile follower, especially for Dragonborn mages and archers.

Vilkas is not afraid to get up close and personal with the enemy, which means he'll run ahead and engage while the Dragonborn sets up to take enemies out from a distance. Another perk with Vilkas and several of the other Companion followers is that he offers Two-Handed Weapon skill training for a price.

This means that, while he's a follower, the player can rack up training and take their money back by asking him to trade with them -- and he won't putting up a fight. The Dawnguard DLC introduced much more controlled vampire and werewolf abilities alongside a host of new activities and companions, like Serana. Daughter of a powerful Vampire Lord, Serana was locked away until the Dragonborn found her entombed in Dimhollow Crypt. Imprisoned by her mother for reasons she doesn't quite understand, Serana is driven by a quest to find the woman and get answers, while also battling her manipulative and power hungry father.

As far as companions go, Serana is an incredibly powerful magic-user with unique vampire lord abilities like Vampiric Drain.

She also has a keen understanding of necromancy that allows her to resurrect powerful allies from the dead to fight alongside her in battle, which, which coupled with her story, makes her one of the most compelling and powerful followers to travel with.
